Neben der Forschung an dem Material Pappmaché in Hinsicht auf dessen
Herstellung, Verarbeitung und statische Belastbarkeit interessierte mich außerdem
die ästhetischen Möglichkeiten des Materials. Im Zuge der Ausstellung „Sundays“
modellierte ich aus mit Pigmenten gefärbter Pappmaché-Masse Werkzeuge in deren
originalen Proportionen.
Hierbei finden sich ausschließlich solche Werkzeuge und Arbeitsmaterialien wieder,
die in der Verarbeitung von Pappmaché innerhalb meines Herstellungsprozesses von
Nöten sind.
Auf diese Weise bildet „Item Box“ neben der ästhetischen Vielfalt des Materials
außerdem inhaltlich dessen Bearbeitungsweise ab. Gleichzeitig eröffnet es aber das
Paradox, dass die Werkzeuge aufgrund des Materials und ihrer Unbeweglichkeit zur
Bearbeitung von Pappmaché absolut unbrauchbar sind.

// In addition to researching the material papier-mâché in terms of its production, processing and static resilience, I was also interested in the aesthetic possibilities of the material. As part of the “Sundays” exhibition, I modeled tools in their original proportions from papier-mâché mixture colored with pigments. Only the tools and work materials that are necessary for processing papier-mâché within my manufacturing process are included here. In this way, “Item Box” reflects not only the aesthetic diversity of the material but also the way it is processed in terms of content. At the same time, however, it opens up the paradox that the tools are absolutely useless for working with papier-mâché due to the material and their immobility.
